All handmade.
I started taking ceramics classes in Cochrane, AB over a decade ago. I worked on learning the basics of throwing and hand-building, and then several years later I started to assist in the studio and teach kids classes. Despite starting early, it took me nearly a decade and an illness to seriously pursue being a ceramic artist.
I went off to university with my pottery wheel and despite ending up with a history degree, I did take one ceramics course where I made this guy. Through that course and this particular project, the idea for my classic potheads concept was born.
I ended up moving back to Calgary and working in a small museum until I fell ill in 2018, and was home-bound in a small apartment that doubled as my studio. I started honing my sculptures and building more intricate pieces.
Now located in Sparwood, BC I have been able to build a studio space where I can continue to learn and grow.
